Jan 25 2006 Haleiwa, HI 2006 Message from the Chairman
Hau'oli Makahiki Hou on behalf of the Board of Directors,
As we embark upon a new year, it is with great pleasure that I share the exciting things that have occurred in 2005 and the new and exciting things that are about to come to your doorstep. In 2005, the board made every effort to ensure that the many different business sectors on the North Shore are being represented on the Board, and I believe we were successful. Following are the people who serve you on the board and the business sectors they represent.

This means that you have a voice at the table to share concerns and ideas similar to your own. If you don't feel like you are being represented, or even if you do, I encourage you to get involved. Come join us and get involved with the different committees, as these outstanding individuals have. Their commitment is very much appreciated.
Also in 2005, we brought more benefits to you, our members, through the following
• An absolutely fabulous, functional, and informational website with free listing and link to your website
• A partnership with the North Shore Destination Group, whose focus is on attracting the right type of customer to the North Shore.
• Through working with the Neighborhood Board and HPD, acquisition of a trailer to transport three ATV’s that will help deter and reduce crime.
• Funding for the Anahulu Bridge Repair
• Participation in OMPO so that we have a voice in islandwide planning and obtaining federal and state funding for projects on the North Shore.
So what can you expect in 2006? Continuing to work with HPD to reduce crime, securing funds and seeking opportunities in collaboration with government to address issues on the North Shore such as traffic at Laniakea, providing walkways in Haleiwa, and establishing and improving restroom facilities. And of course, we will not forget that you enjoy the opportunity to network and socialize, so we will provide many opportunities this year to do just that.
Last but not least, we will work to increase the benefits you receive from the Chamber. So Komo mai ... come on board. Let's work together in 2006 to make this place an even better place to live, work, and play.
