Nov 8, 2010 Haleiwa, HI
From the North Pole to the North Shore

pdf Parade Packet

Come enjoy the Christmas spirit and lights of Historic Hale’iwa Town Friday, December 10th.  The North Shore Chamber of Commerce’s 10th annual Christmas parade will kick off the Hale’iwa Town celebrations with over 40 units planned including: bands, beauty queens, horse units, hula dancers, the fire engine, floats and other units unique to the North Shore.  The parade starts at 6:00 PM from Weed Circle roundabout and will travel through Haleiwa Town ending at Hale’iwa Beach Park at approximately 7:00 PM.

This year’s theme is “Celebrating the Chamber’s 25th Anniversary!”  The Grand Marshall will be Charlene Terukina who started the organization in 1985.  Its name at the time was the Haleiwa-Waialua Business and Professional Association.  Today the organization is the North Shore Chamber of Commerce and it has accomplished much over the last 25 years.  Its mission is  “to promote, maintain, and encourage the historic, cultural, civic and economic welfare of the North Shore district through research, education, advocacy, and other related activities.”

Other festivities include:

  • Children of all ages can visit with Santa before the parade at the North Shore Marketplace under the monkeypod tree from 4:00 to 5:30 and immediately following until 8:30 PM.  Photos by Island Style Images will be available for $5.
  • Eat before or after the parade in Haleiwa’s great restaurants!
  • Shops will have sidewalk sales, in-store specials, demonstrations and other festivities.

Come early to find parking before 5:30 pm in the town’s shopping centers or at the Historic Haleiwa Gym and bring a flashlight, umbrella, lawn chairs or blankets to sit on.  The festivities will close the main street for a little over one hour and will open around 7:15.  Please make plans accordingly.
