Hawaii cattle marketings plummet
Total cattle marketings per month in Hawaii have fallen below 3,000 a month, the National Agricultural Statistics Service Hawaii Field Office reports. In March, the most recent month for which figures have been released, 2,700 head were marketed, which means, either slaughtered locally or shipped elsewhere for fattening or slaughter.

Another project coming to North Shore
It's not 3,500 hotel and condominium units at Turtle Bay Resort or exclusive beachfront homes on agriculture property in Kahuku, but a plan to create 26 house lots on a large family homestead near Waimea Bay is raising more community concerns over development on the North Shore.

Kahuku tomatoes looking good
The U.S. Agricultural Department reports good crop weather across most of Hawaii in recent days, and it's looking especially good for Oahu tomatoes. Tomato patches in Windward Oahu are doing well. Showers during the week improved soil moisture. Harvested supplies in Kahuku and other Windward Oahu locales were available for the local market.

Kahuku land to be sold to developer
Florida-based Continental Pacific LLC has agreed to purchase 230 acres in Kahuku from the Estate of James Campbell, including the Kahuku municipal golf course, Kahuku Hospital and 70 rental homes, the estate has confirmed.

Homeowners gain property tax relief
Homeowners will benefit from a reduction in Honolulu's residential tax rate as well as a one-time discount of $200 under tax rates and budget and spending plans given final approval yesterday by the City Council.

Hawaii has top 10 economic growth rate
Goods and services produced in Hawaii last year totaled $53.7 billion, or 4.8 percent more than the year before. That, the U.S. Commerce Department said in a Tuesday report, was the 10th best growth rate of any state. The national growth rate was 3.5 percent.

Council hikes Oahu commercial tax rate
The Honolulu City Council voted 9-0 on Wednesday to raise the tax rate on commercial property. Starting July 1, the tax rate for commercial, hotel, resort and industrial land on Oahu moves from $11.37 per $1,000 in valuation to $11.97.

Presentation on Lake Wilson water quality maintenance plans
The Moku o Waialua Watershed Action Group, Inc has asked Kenneth Kaneshiro and Steven Lohse from the Center for Conservation Research and Training to speak to the community on June 6 at 7:00 pm at the Haleiwa Elem School cafeteria about their project  on Lake Wilson water quality and watershed management plans that include a constructed wetland using Lake Wilson water.
