After 77 years, Kahuku Hospital to close
Kahuku Hospital is closing on Dec. 31 after years of financial turmoil and too few patients to sustain it. The 25-bed hospital's board of directors voted on Nov. 6 to close and file for Chapter 7 bankruptcy to wind up its business operations. The hospital carries $3 million in short-term debt due to accounts payable and Internal Revenue Service liabilities. The hospital didn't immediately know the value of its assets.
